Environmental issues are more and more important in society today. Most of the political leaders make proposals to promote a more sustainable system. This promotion has to be more done economically. Abuses like greenwashing are more and more spread but it is necessary to promote an alternative international system able to contribute to face abuses and stimulate a more humanistic capitalism, more compatible to environmental issues.
Climate change is an issue that has to be more tackled internationally and not only politically. If companies like Veolia are in the CAC40 market it is overall needed to have more great companies or unicorns that are compatible to environmental issues. It is also a way to make philosophical way of lives, like the Stoicians or the Epicurian made a kind of return : the promotion of a reasonable life ; the figure of Zenon, who was at the same time a great erudite and a good man with a balanced way of life can be promoted a new way with the environmental issues.
This promotion can include everything that can contribute to improve the environment. For instance common transportations is very good overall and has to be improved, more investments have to be made in this sector. A better system can also include forgotten proposals of the Attali commission of 2008 which include promoting a better internet access in all the territory. It has to be compatible to the environment as well. Investing in the forest sector is also very good to tackle climate change. Another sector is the sea : as Melenchon said in 2013 the sea will be detrimental in the future. He told rightly the first great modern powers like the Netherlands build their strengths on ports. To this extend the submarines will be detrimental in the future but the rivalries they will create will have to encompass the most possible environmental factors. To this extend, like in Groenland, activists will have a lot of work to do.
Alternative financial actors will have to be more involved in this problem. Financial institutions like cooperative have to be more internationalized and cryptocurrencies can be useful to put in place a system able to fund more environmental projects. The network of financial institutions have to be more internationalized this way and more able to promote this kind of companies. The current capitalist system is an oligarchy that promotes only some giant companies. This insane system (the great liberal economist Adam Smith told to beware the great companies) should be counterbalanced by a more decentralized and centered around a more sustainable model of entrepreneurship that can encompass better environmental issues. This system can also include financial markets that may target to include in the long run more companies like Veolia in its system.
Kant said that “the first measure of power is money” and it can be seen in the environmental issues. Money is an important nerve of engagement and alternative systems have to be put in place no promote a more humanistic and sustainable system compliant with environmental issues. Network and human capital have also to be developed to promote better this system : for instance links between schools, universities, associations and alternative financial institutions in an international scale have to be more promoted. They may be more able to face multinationals that don’t always respect environmental standards or do greenwashing. However it will be a long term process even if new technologies, like the apparition of books in the Renaissance time, have the power to spread ideas even more rapidly than before.
