The time we live in looks to be a great return of classical threats. Three can be shown : the great rivalry between the United States and China, the return of Islamism show that it is necessary to show new kinds of fights that need to be shown. To this extend it is necessary to study to which extend it is possible to face these challenges and defend humanistic and classical values which are threatened.
Three major aspect define our time that need to be considered. The first factor is the great return of rivalries between the United States and China. It is noticeable that the last great man in history will be probably Deng Xiaoping, who succeeded to “relaunch” the history of China as a great nation and of the world to a certain extend. Whether you like or not the Chinese regime (which is not really my case) this accomplishment will be probably seen in the long run as an important moment in the history of the world. This return of China in history is a also a return of a nation of thinkers and philosophers. It is thinking in the long run and working a great deal that China succeeded partly this great development, even if other factor a lot less honorable can be taken into account. To this extend it is necessary to show that this return of great rivalries show that education is a crucial step in the system.
Returns of wars of religion are shown by the September 11 attacks. The fact the United States were stricken in their soil show that, like England, the advance in technologies make territories more and more vulnerable. The strength of England was during a long time to be an island. Considering these factors it is necessary to cultivate more about religions to face problems that religions can cause. The rise of Islamism is caused by geopolitical and social factors, but also by a revival of religions due to the failure of Marxism. This approach looks to determine the future of this century which is about to be more dominated by religions than the XXth century. Malraux said that “the XXIst century will be religious or won’t be”. It looks that this century is going towards this path.
Last the oppression in society we live in is shown is schools were delinquency is largely impunished. This approach is partly calculated in a period classical values are threatened. This oppression is allowing reactionary values and order to thrive and this worrying trend must be fought. It is necessary to resist to it and defend classical and humanistic values. As reactionarism can lead to fascism, this “in between” state has to be fully taken into account in the evolution of society in the western world. It is noticeable that Islamism is thriving in the Middle East and reactionarism, that leads to Le Pen in France as well as Trump in the United States, share common ground : the two biggest colonial and esclavagist civilizations in history were the Western world and the Muslim Arabic world. It it not so surprising these reactionary trends thrive more and more in these two parts of the world.
Those three factors show that classical fights are back, and the XXIst century shows that to a great extend. It is noticeable as well that Asia is the continent that created this turning point in history. As the religious wars and the 11th September attack come from the Middle East and Afghanistan, the revival of great rivalries come from China. As Asia created this revival of history and is today the greatest economic continent in the world, compared to a decadent and declining Western world (which can be seen as well in schools and education and the amount of debt), these trends will be in my opinion stronger and stronger in the coming years.
