The result of the legislative elections were a signal that the French don’t want the extreme right to go to power. If it is the fruit of political calculations, it is also a popular decision to say that can be taken as a refusal of the extreme in power. It is mainly a vote of anger.
The fact the New Popular Front (NFP) is going to power is not a good sign for the economy and the country. First the economic program is taking the idea, for instance, of blocking prices, which is irrealistic and taking from the old communist ideology of the 70’s. It is the reason why it is necessary to build an international network concerning think tanks, ideologies, and so on, that can counter the rise of extremisms in the Western world. In fact, in my opinion, it is a reaction to the state of decline and decadence we live in. This reaction against an ongoing and generalized mediocrity looks to create a lot of frustrations, feeling of injustice and marginalization. To this extend the extremisms are not as strong they used to be one century ago. Racism are not as strong as at this time ; however we live in a dangerous period to the extend we live in a decadent society and civilization.
It looks that the level of political debates is going lower and lower. To this extend it looks necessary to engage to a fight to this extend. In fact it is necessary to create wordwide alliances and cooperations among common values to fight more efficiently the rise of extremism. It looks also important to find solutions to the problems of education and debt for instance. Ironically the two problems are linked to the extend the mentality of lack of seriousness, long term planning and irrelevant arrogance to approach the two questions lead to disastruous results in the two fields.
The age of the internet looks, for instance, to make forget more and more the power of books. If books created an important progress in the rise of our civilizations, contributed to alphabetization and so on, the advent of the internet is leading to a relative regression, especially to this extend. It looks necessary to go back to classical values. Hopefully there is a large part of the population which is looking to preserve these classical values, which doesn’t mean being conservative and even less reactionary. Classical values put the emphasis on the importance of knowledge, different thinking, imagination and creativity. Those factor can contribute to fight the extraordinary stereotyping behaviours everywhere, and then an extraordinary mediocrity. It is a symptom of the decadent “age” we live in. Tackling these factors of mediocrity can, in my opinion, contribute to bring useful responses to a good deal of those who vote today for the extreme, and make them go back to more “humanistic” votes.
