The access of the Extreme Right in power in France is revealing of numerous factors that happened from a very long time in France. It is possible to say that this catastrophy was previsible for a long deal of times.
The first one is the irresponsibility of our governments. For years the debt is increasing, no responsibility of our political leaders on this aspect. This cynism and lack of responsibility is creating a decline of our civilizations. To this extend it is possible to say that politicians have a great responsibility for what happened in this election. The debt began to explode in the 90’s under the second mandate of François Mitterrand, and never stopped to continue. Unsounded expenses, under “Keynesian” values that were just hiding clientelism, are a real sign of decadence. The idea to build a vision of things can be very unsounded. For this reason it is possible to say the sanction around this vote is something that is not surprising. It looks extremely sad that a brilliant economist like Macron was the president under which the debts exploded the most. Even if good things have been put in place, like the 2030 investment plan, which is making investment on strategic technologies in the future, it looks that it is not followed by a equivalent investment in research for instance.
Another revealing factor is the state of education in France, which is appealing. To this extend the level of education can show to which extend our country is being more and more decadent. To this extend it looks necessary to engage in two fronts in my opinion : against the ideas of the extreme right, and against the impunished violence so spread everywhere in schools in France, a restauration of authority but compliant with humanistic principles. The catastrophy of the advent of the extreme right is the product of a great series of scandalous behaviours, that are threatening schools who are the first pillars of social ascension, together with entrepreneurial spirit. It is the reason why taking this factor into account is detrimental to rebuild a society that is fighting decline a better way. The extreme right has terrible solution but raises real issues as the lack of authority. A former socialist Prime Minister, Laurent Fabius, said that the “extreme right is raising good questions but gives bad answers”. It looks necessary to stay on this basis to tackle such issues.
In my opinion it looks necessary to resist to the extreme right, but as well to take into account the legitimate questions raised. The political system looks to fall apart, and for instance the level of the debates is often lower and lower. The culture of the “buzz” is for instance threatening. Being more demanding on the quality of the debates is in my opinion partly a solution to the disaffection around politics. If you compare the debates between Giscard and Mitterrand in 1974 or 1981, and the debates of today, the gap looks to be huge. It looks detrimental to improve of these aspects to fight the decline and decadence we live in, and counter at the same time the dreadful reaction which his the probable advent of the extreme right to power.
