BUILDING A NEW EQUILIBRIUM

The period we live in resulting in a new Cold War. Three axis will be strategical in the fight :

  • The economical side
  • The political side
  • The scienfical side

Those sides show that the expansionism of China is on many fronts. This approach is inspired not only from Marxism, but from very old confucianist principles. In its approach to authority and the preeminence of the notion of group it is authoritarian. However there is a tendency of revenge concerning the industrial revolution. Don’t forget the Chinese invented the imprimery and powder, or the boussole. That it the reason why it is important to consider this culture which is so different from ours. Those approaches are very different from the Western ones. No philosophy in China has a vision close to holistic views, which are favoring chaos (on the contrary confucianism is favouring harmony). Mastering science is a desire to repair the mistakes China made from the XVIth to the XVIIIth century, when the country became less opened to innovation. This approach caused a more advanced Western countries and the invasion of China, the concessions… This will of revenge is dealt with the fact centuries of misery were caused by the Western world. But it is the return of an Empire which already existed during the Roman Empire.

In a way this new Cold War is a revival of the United States, which has common grounds with the Roman Republic (before it became the Roman « Empire ») and China. But this time the two « empires » know each other. Of course the means of communication are not the same than during the antiquity. But the fight for global supremacy is a very classical one. The conquest of the world operated by China is the same than what the Roman Empire or Napoleon wanted to do. This return of Asia looks to be very logical. It is a terrible failure of the theory of the « End of History » of Fukuyama. But the book « the Clash of Civlizations » has proved to be true.

Concerning spirituality, China didn’t have the same approach at all than the Western world. The United States is a very religious country. The wars at the frontline of daily news were against Islamists, for instance Al Qaida. Now they confront China in priority, which is a confucean country. De Gaulle said that « Russia will eat communism as paper will eat encre ». It looks the same with China : before being a communist country, it is a confucian one.

The reformist approach of Deng Xiaoping (a keynesian approach of economy) corresponds to this confucian approach. That is the reason why pretending to export the Western model to China could only lead to failure. It is important, in my opinion, to build an equilibrium that could be able in the long run to contain the expansionist views of the « chinese dragon ». But maybe a system where it is possible to collaborate with the Chinese can be also built. If the Western world succeeds to build a strong and sustainable equilibrium, it can be not a bad solution.
